Pro-Gen Diagnostics (Pty) Ltd is a privately owned South African company operating in the medical diagnostics (IVD) market. There are three shareholders/directors.

Pro-Gen was formed and commenced business in June 2004.

We import and market various products sourced from leading international IVD manufacturers, with whom we have exclusive distribution agreements for South Africa and, often, neighbouring countries in Southern Africa. Our speciality lies in the fields of Infectious Diseases, Microbiology, Haemostasis, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Specialised molecular Testing. Pro-Gen will only focus on quality products with which we can service niche markets with exceptional support.

We have established a reputation for quality of service and support with our products and are committed to working only with world class suppliers with FDA and/or CE certification. Our offices are located in Johannesburg from which all operations are conducted and have offices in Cape Town and Durban which service the local needs of customers in the Western Cape and Kwa Zulu Natal.
Nearly three quarters of our business is transacted in Johannesburg [the province is called Gauteng] which is the industrial hub of southern Africa – hence our location here. We are also well positioned to service the rest of Africa from our base in Johannesburg.

Pro-Gen is a supplier to, and on the authorized suppliers list, of the National Health Laboratory Service (State owned laboratories and Universities), and all major private pathology laboratories. We also service the veterinary, pharmaceutical and food laboratory industry.

Pro-Gen out-sources the book keeping function, cleaning services and uses an external courier company to deliver all shipments to customers.
There are six people in sales [one of which is in Cape Town and one in Durban] out of a total staff complement of seventeen employees. Our sales staff all have medical technology backgrounds with extensive experience in pathology laboratories. Five staff handle all warehouse and distribution, customer service and administration support. We also offer our own in-house technical support with staff trained in clinical engineering.
